About Mitchell

Good Business
Mitchell Klein became the CEO of CHEEERS in 2005.  During his tenure, Klein has implemented a budget and strong financial direction, developed a staff into a strong and productive mission focused team, revamped CHEEERS organizational structure, and implemented an operations software package to track services and funding.  As a result of these changes, the organization attracted many more clients, strong employees and volunteers.  Klein’s vision, to help seriously mentally ill adults help themselves develop strong, productive ties to their community, has become a reality.  Every person who has gained the skills they need to achieve their own individualized goals and become a productive member of society, the surrounding community benefits greatly.  Because of Klein’s leadership, CHEEERS now serves over 400 active members.

Leadership
Klein leads by example and by empowering team members.  At CHEERS everyone works together to build success – from success comes self-confidence and self-respect.   A recent anonymous staff satisfaction survey showed a very high level of enthusiasm and team oriented cooperation.  Helping more people in meaningful ways with ever-diminishing resources has always been Klein’s goal.

Mission
We are a peer-run not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to helping adults who have serious mental illnesses help themselves achieve their self-determined goals and to become productive members of our community.  We strive to achieve four primary objectives:  1. To help our members find and maintain meaningful relationships, 2. To help our members find and maintain meaningful daily activities, including gainful employment, 3. To help our members find and keep suitable housing, and 4. To help our members better understand and manage their own behavioral health symptoms in socially appropriate ways.
